James Cunningham
James entered the Computational Physiology lab in 2023 as a psychology PhD student. Previous professional and educational experience has helped hone his interests in sensory systems, temporal dynamics, and computer science. His current work revolves around our electrophysiological recording rig for optogenetically active brain slices. He studies the impact of cholinergic modulation on olfactory bulb slices in vitro to further our understanding of the time-based mechanisms of neuronal-population communication. He is also an avid educator, both in and out of the classroom, including courses like 'Rhythms of Life' and 'Chronobiology and Composition', as well as participating in volunteer programs like GRASSHOPR and co-heading the Cornell Undergraduate Psychology Conference planning committee.
